Missing New Canaan Man Found [Update]

Robert Brown, who is autistic, is unharmed, according to police.

New Canaan police say that Robert O. Brown, who was reported missing Monday afternoon, has been located. Brown voluntarily entered a hospital in Westchester, seeking assistance, police said.

"He is safe and unharmed," according to a press release from Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, a silver alert notifies state media when anyone over the age of 18 with special needs is missing.

"We are trying to do whatever we can to find him," Ogrinc said.

New Canaan police are looking for a 22-year-old New Canaan man who has been missing since Monday, Sept. 12. Robert O. Brown is a white male, 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has a shaved head and wears glasses. Police said Brown suffers from autism and “has not taken his medication."

Brown was last seen in the vicinity of Vitti St. in the center of New Canaan. He was wearing a tee shirt of unknown color, and a pair of khaki shorts with sneakers, according to a police report sent to Patch and other media outlets.

“Robert has been known to use the Metro-North railroad as a mode of transportation and frequents New Haven and New York City,” according to the report.
