New Canaan police say it took the town's animal control officer, two additional officers and a helpful neighbor 45 minutes to secure a pair of ponies that got loose in town late Wednesday morning.

According to Animal Control Officer Mary Ann Kleinschmitt, the animals were seen running on Smith Ridge Road near North Wilton Road at 11:09 a.m.
