Unusual arrests around the region.

Police who stopped an 18-year-old Greenwich driver for while driving say they found more than Apple chief Steve Jobs’ best-selling gadget. An officer said he saw the teen driving several times past a construction site where he was directing traffic Monday morning. When the policeman noticed the iPad in the driver’s lap and approached the car, he saw a passenger drop what appeared to be a dark cigar-like leaf onto the ground, according to police reports. Inside the car, police said they found marijuana and a plastic bag of pills. In addition to facing drug charges, the driver was issued a verbal warning for distracted driving.

A 21-year-old New Canaan man is facing accusations that he from the men’s clothing store where he worked. An internal investigation by JoS. A. Bank security staff reportedly revealed that the (former) employee had stolen four ties, an overcoat, a sports shirt, two belts and a pair of suspenders. According to police, the suspect is also accused of stealing a pair of $325 black leather shoes that he was wearing when confronted about the theft.

Police in Fairfield say they who admitted to phoning repeatedly a woman to complain about a daycare sign she’d placed in front of her house. According to the police report, the caller told her that the sign is illegal and that he had called in the past. The homeowner had the man’s phone number and officers contacted him. The man admitted to being a concerned citizen, police said. Officers told him to make a complaint to the town if he had a problem with the sign, police said.

A Norwalk electrician who had been fired from his job is accused of worth of materials to his ex-employer’s tab at a wholesalers’ outfit. According to police, the city man made off with nearly 7,000 feet of copper wire prior to getting caught.

Finally, a 47-year-old Stamford woman is accused of while biting another’s hand as officer tried to remove her from the downtown building where she was sitting down. A security guard at the building reportedly phoned police after the woman refused to leave the short wall outside the building. After a brief struggle, officers where able to restrain her with handcuffs, according to a police report, and she was jailed.
