Darien Resident Responds to Warrant for Failure to Appear 

 April 12, 10:11 a.m: Darien resident Courtney R. Suhler, 39, turned herself in at New Canaan police headquarters after a warrant was issued for failure to appear in court. On June 15, 2010, Suhler was charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to return license and using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle.  She failed to appear in court on August 6 of last year. She was released on $2,500 bond and has a court date of April 20.

April 12, 10:44 a.m: A 52-year-old Smith Ridge Lane resident reported to police that someone had attempted to open credit cards with GE and JC Penney using his name and his father’s. The attempts were made online, on or about March 15. Police are investigating.

April 12, 8:57 p.m: A 49-year-old Millport Ave. resident went online to fill out his tax return and received an error message from the IRS stating that a return in his name had already been filed. He contacted the IRS, which informed him that a refund had been issued and deposited in a bank account. Police did not have the dollar amount of the refund. The IRS is investigating.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

April 17, 8:52 a.m: Alexander Caccona, 18, of Peekskill, NY was stopped by police as he drove northbound at 62 miles per hour in a zone posted at 45 mph on Smith Ridge Road. K-9 Zira checked the exterior of the car and indicated finding a substance in the trunk. The operator was questioned and admitted having marijuana in the trunk of the car. Police found a glass pipe and a small amount of marijuana in a backpack in the trunk. Caccoa was given a misdemeanor summons for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on April 28.
