Thief Makes Away With $5,000 Worth of Jewelry

Someone allegedly broke into a house on Parting Brook Road.

A Parting Brook Road resident reported to police that a jewelry box was stolen from her home sometime on Thursday, Sept. 20.

The 54-year-old woman told police the thief made off with about $5,000 worth of jewelry, though she’d not yet compiled a list of everything that was missing.

Police said the woman left her home at 7:45 a.m. that day and returned at 5:20 p.m., noticing someone had gained access to her house by breaking glass on the rear door.

The case remains under investigation.
