Thieves on Bicycles, Apple Snatchers and One Homesick Man

A roundup of unusual police reports from around the region.

A 22-year-old New Canaan man only received minor injuries in a one-car accident on June 2, but on Aug. 8, he was  (as well as reckless driving) after police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his car and at the accident scene. Among the charges is illegal possession of marijuana near a school because the accident occurred in close proximity to a high school and elementary school.

Wilton police  from a homeowner of concerning a man standing next to a red car, staring at the homeowner’s residence from the top of the owner’s driveway.  Upon investigation, it turned out that the man was reflecting on his life when he used to live there. No word on whether or not he was used to seeing police cars at his former home.

About an hour before closing Sunday afternoon,  seven laptops from a display inside the Apple store on Greenwich Avenue.

"They ran in and grabbed varioius electronics and fled out of the store," said Greenwich Police Capt. Mark Marino, head of the detective division. Marino also said detectives will be investigating "a similar incident at the Apple store in White Plains" that happened two days earlier.

There's nothing unusual in the simple fact that robbers snatched at two and made off with one of the bags a man and woman were carrying on Thursday night in Norwalk.

What's unusual is that the two robbers .

The couple said that outside Dance Dimensions at 3 Quincy St., they were each holding a bag as they left their dance class. They said each of the men on bikes grabbed one of their bags.

The handle on the woman’s bag broke, while the male victim fell to the ground, chipping a tooth and receiving a slight cut on his forehead. The woman also fell to the ground, but was uninjured.

The two cyclists fled with the man’s bag, which he said contained assorted dance clothing and other items. The incident was reported at 10:49 p.m.
