Three New Canaan Police Officers Injured in Fire Rescue Attempt
All of the officers had been treated and released by Friday afternoon.
The New Canaan police officers were sent to the hospital early Friday morning following their rescues attempts at a house fire on Old Stamford Road, authorities announced later that day.
According to Lt. Vincent DeMaio, said a pair of siblings shared space at the one-floor rancher at 747 Old Stamford Road. A fire broke out in an "in-law" apartment in the lower level of the home at 12:36 a.m. Friday and New Canaan police officers were the first responders on scene.
The male occupant of the home told officers there was some uncertainty as to whether his sister was home at the time, as her car was present. Officers entered the building to confirm everyone was out safely. It was ultimately determined the woman was out at the time of the blaze after firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze.
