Towle King Richard Silverware Reported Stolen from New Canaan Home

An 85-year-old Sleepy Hallow Road man reported that his 20 sets of Towle King Richard silver place settings had gone missing, authorities reported this week.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, New Canaan police received a call on Nov. 12 at approximately 9:48 a.m. about a larceny that occurred at the home. Ogrinc said the man remembered seeing the silverware sets about a month prior and first suspected them as having been stolen on Nov. 9, but thought maybe he'd placed them elsewhere in his home at first. When he couldn't find them, he reported the loss to police, Ogrinc said.

Police were unable to find any signs of forced entry and the man wasn't having any work done at the home, so there was no one with access coming or going at the time of the loss. Ogrinc said 20 full sets were taken, including knives forks and spoons of assorted styles and uses.

Examples of the Towle King Richard style can be seen above, in an image available on Macy's website. Macy's lists a five piece set as being valued at $1,240, but the specific name brand of the silverware stolen from the Sleepy Hallow Road home was unavailable.
