Trio Found with Marijuana at Irwin Park

Two New Canaan teens were arrested in the incident on Saturday night.

Two New Canaan teens were among a trio of youths arrested on minor drug charges after an officer spotted their car pulling into and parking there late Saturday night, police said.

Geoffrey Krist, 19, of Valley Road, was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana; Dessislava Doytcheva, 19, of Park Street, was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia; and Michael J. DiPietro, 21, of Brewster, NY was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, the department’s public information officer, an officer on patrol saw a vehicle turn into the park from Weed Street around 9:54 p.m., park and its lights dimmed.

The officer approached the car and asked whether the three had any drugs, Ogrinc said.

“They at first said ‘No’ and then [the officer] said there was the K-9  working that night, and when they found the K-9 could respond [to the call], all three handed over what they had,” Ogrinc said.

According to police, Krist handed the officer a metal tin and pack of cigarettes, both of which had marijuana inside, and Doytcheva and DiPietro each a plastic bag with marijuana and small metal smoking pipe.

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

New Canaan hockey players are better off playing at Sono, Ridgefield or Stamford Youth Hockey.

welcome to New Canaan. We can waste it better than any other. Anyone need trees. I understandRead More that if you write a letter to the tree warden he will immediately put them in or take them out if you so desire. I would like 4 trees, free alarm monitoring and a sidewalk please.
