Truck Crashes Under Railroad Bridge

Accident closes RT 106 for over two hours.

A moving truck headed south on Old Stamford Road (Route 106) fell on its side shorly after 11 a.m. this morning after hitting the railroad bridge overpass near Weed Street.

The driver of the 12'6" truck had ignored the signs warning that the no truck taller than 11'3" should attempt to go under the bridge.

When it overturned, the truck's load of furniture broke open the top of the truck, which was totaled by the accident.

Traffic was diverted around the scene until about 1:30 p.m. when a wrecker was finally able to drag the truck away.
