UPDATE: New Charges Against Shoplifters

Police bring new charges against two women arrested for shoplifting in New Canaan earlier this month. Charges against a third are pending.

Three women arrested for a shoplifting spree in New Canaan, have been charged with additional counts of larceny and conspiracy stemming from the incident.

On Sept. 13, New Canaan police arrested 24-year-old Kristle Bonfield and 23-year-old Shana Mcleod, both of Brooklyn, along with 23-year-old Joyce Yalley of Laurelton, N.Y., for stealing merchandise from several downtown stores.

While they were making a court appearance on the original charges on Monday, Sept. 21, New Canaan police served Bonfield and Mcleod with new arrest warrants following the discovery after the women's initial arrest, of in an SUV they left on Elm Street. Both were brought back to New Canaan Police headquarters Monday and newly charged with third degree larceny and third degree conspiracy to commit larceny. They were arraigned on the new charges Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, New Canaan police served an arrest warrant on Joyce Yalley at Norwalk Court. Yalley, like her counterparts, was then charged with one new count of third degree larceny and one new count of third degree conspiracy, as well as one count criminal impersonation for falsifying her name and birth date.

New Canaan Police say there may be yet another round of charges brought against the women.

All three have been jailed since their original arrest on Sept. 13.
