Police are investigating attempted theft from a Weed Street resident, police said.

The 69-year-old woman contacted New Canaan police on August 14 after her bank, First Internet Bank of Indiana, alerted her that an individual made a request for the bank to wire transfer out $18,500 from her account, said Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

The woman cancelled her account and the identity of the caller is still unknown, said Ogrinc.

A Mariomi Road resident reported to police on August 16 that her property had been vandalized, police said.

The 51-year-old woman told police that eggs had been thrown at her garage and mailbox sometime after 10 p.m. the night before, said Ogrinc.

The identity of the individuals responsible is still unknown, police said.

A Stamford teen was issued an infraction for possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana on August 16 on Ponus Ridge Road, police said.

The 17-year-old was pulled over for driving over the posted speed limit northbound on Ponus Ridge Road, said Ogrinc.

The officer, who had been running stationary radar, reported that the operator appeared nervous and, when asked if there were any drugs in the car, allegedly told the officer that there was marijuana in the vehicle, police said.

The teen was issued an infraction for possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and for violating passenger restriction laws, said Ogrinc.

NEW CANAAN NEWS OF THE YEAR!!! New Canaan Police pull over a female and found very little weed. Now officer, for the small amount of weed you found, was it worth the extra paper work? Here's a tip Mr. Ociffer: If you pull someone over and the occupants of that vehicle admit to having small amount of weed and has a good driving record and/or has never gotten locked up, confiscate the weed and LET THAT PERSON GO. Stop wasting my money and other peoples tax money on petty crap like this.
