Wallets Missing (Who Knew?)

Wallet Stolen at New Canaan Inn

An 86-year-old resident of New Canaan Inn discovered her wallet was missing after her bank alerted her that someone had attempted to use her debit card at a gas station in Bridgeport, and cash one of her checks at a grocery store in Trumbull.

The woman told New Canaan police that her son, who had spent the night at her apartment, thought he saw someone enter the premises after he heard a gentle knock on the door sometime between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 20.

The wallet, which was in a purse, contained $60 in cash, miscellaneous credit cards, a Social Security card and two blank checks.

Police are conducting an investigation.

Narcotics Violation on Oenoke

A police officer pulled over a car after he observed it crossing the yellow line “several times” as it travelled northbound on Oenoke Ridge. K9 Zira was deployed and she indicated discovery at both the driver and passenger doors. The officer found a container with less than four ounces of marijuana in the center console. James C. Thompson, 18, of Wahackme Road, who was a passenger in the car, said the container was his. He was issued an infraction and fined $150.

Purse Taken From Car on Kimberly Place, Found in Darien

A 44-year-old Stamford resident didn’t know her purse was missing until Darien Police notified her that they had found it on the front yard of a Hoyt St. residence in Darien. The woman told New Canaan police that the purse was in her car when she parked it in front of a home on Kimberly Place at 5 p.m. on Aug. 25. The Darien Police Department called her at 10:30 p.m. to tell her they had found her belongings. Though they recovered the purse, the woman’s wallet and its contents were missing. The woman said she is missing a $20 wallet, a $20 Coach leather credit card holder, $50 in cash, miscellaneous debit and credit cards and three gift cards, with values of $140, $130 and $50. The car was unlocked.

License Plate Stolen From BMW

On Aug. 27 a 48-year-old resident of Orchard Drive told police the front license plate had been stolen from her 1987 BMW 325 while the car was parked in her driveway. She knew the plate hadn’t fallen off because she found the plate cover near the vehicle in the driveway.
