'Change Your Clocks - Change Your Batteries' and Batteries Giveaway

Want to get to church or synagogue on time tomorrow? Maybe a brunch, or just carry out your Sunday routine in real time? Then be sure to adjust your clocks at, or by, 2 a.m. to "fall back" one hour to Eastern daylight time - and don't forget the car.

Also, in conjunction with the nation-wide "Change Your Clocks - Change Your Batteries" campaign, the Office and New Canaan Fire Company No. 1, wishes to remind everyone to please change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

By changing batteries at regular intervals the annoying "chirp" of a battery going dead is avoided. The importance of properly placed and operating smoke detectors cannot be overstated.

Also, on Saturday, fire fighters will again be offering free batteries to New Canaan residents (limit three per household, please) at Fire Headquarters on Main Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Residents who are unable to change their own batteries due to age or disability may call fire headquarters at 203-594-3140 to arrange for fire fighters to come to your residence for assistance.

Due to the high occurrence of false alarms the New Canaan Fire Company No. 1 also wants to take this opportunity to remind residents with automatic fire alarm systems to please have them serviced annually by certified alarm technicians to ensure proper operation and help us to reduce false alarms.
