Merritt Lane Closures in New Canaan, Stamford, Sun-Wed

Be careful on the Merritt Parkway from Sunday through Wednesday, and expect delays.

A bridge safety and evaluation project on the Merritt Parkway will result in alternating left- and right-lane closures Sunday morning and at different times on Monday and Tuesday in New Canaan.

On Wednesday, the work moves west on the highway into Stamford.

The lane closures are expected to take place from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday in a "rolling pattern" in lanes for both "northbound" and "southbound" (that is, eastbound and westbound) traffic between Exits 36 and 38 in New Canaan, according to a news release from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

On Monday, the same kind of work is expected to close lanes in a similar way between exits 37 and 38 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the "northbound" (that is , eastbound) side, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the "southbound" (or westbound) side.

On Tuesday, the same kind of lane closures are expected at the same times between the same two exits.

On Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the southbound (westbound, away from New Canaan) lanes in Stamford, alternating left and right lane closures continue, this time between Exits 34 and 31.
