Himes To Serve On House Intelligence Committee

The congressman from Cos Cob released this announcement regarding his committee appointment.

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has appointed U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (CT-4) to serve on the United States House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The committee provides oversight budget authorization for the 17 intelligence agencies of the United States.

“I am excited and proud to have been appointed to the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence at a time when asymmetric and unconventional threats to our nation will be increasingly identified and countered by our intelligence community,” Himes said. “As the recent discussion of the American use of drone technology has illustrated, it is more important than ever that we carefully balance our nation’s security needs with fundamental civil liberties and core national values. I am eager help craft and oversee our nation’s effort to respond to emerging security threats and look forward to working in a bipartisan way to build a safer and more secure America.”

Himes will retain his position on the House Committee on Financial Services. In the 111th Congress, he served on the Homeland Security Committee.

Do as I say, not as I do -- It's not uncommon for politicians to think people should pay more taxes while not paying their own. "Just last week, Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu argued during a Capitol Hill hearing that the government needs more tax revenue. But in a twist of hypocrisy, the Louisiana senator and her husband appear to have not yet paid $1,206.95 in tax penalties to the District of Columbia government on their Capitol Hill home, The Daily Caller has learned. According to public records available online in the District of Columbia’s 'Real Property Assessment Database,' the D.C. government has penalized Landrieu $1,003.33, plus $202.62 in interest, for 2012 taxes on her mansion on East Capitol Street. It is unclear what the penalty is for."

I would like to be the first to wish Mr Himes much luck and success in acquiring intelligence. Go get 'em Jimmy!

Mr. Himes can you ask President Obama if he will kill an American citizen on U. S. soil with a drone without due process? And please what is the definition of "imminent danger" that would allow this kill to take place with justification. Thank you.

Cut Trackside out February 20, 2013 at 07:50 PM
Although Trackside Teen Center’s principal goal is to serve Wilton’s teenagers, private rentals were the primary driver If the main use of the center is for rentals, why are we taxpayers paying anything towards Trackside? Cut them out of the town budget!

I happen to LOVE Wilton and would be glad if some of my tax dollars went to help them out.
