New Canaan a Top Ten Success Story
According to Connecticut Magazine, the town's pension funding ranks among the state's best.
New Canaan is featured in a Connecticut Magazine cover story as one of the state's “Success Stories.” The town's municipal-employees pension fund, which is more than fully funded, deserves recognition in this day of public deficits and debts, according to the January 2012 issue.
New Canaan is number four on the list.
The article reports New Canaan is one of ten Connecticut municipalities the state Office of Police and Management said has “best weathered the economic uncertainty of recent years to find themselves well in the black.” The writer said the towns on the list exhibit “a level of discipline and judgment.”
