Results from the town are unofficial. Listed here, they will be confirmed Wednesday morning, according to the New Canaan Registrar of Voters.

New Canaan: Election Results

The following table breaks down how New Canaan constituents voted in all races affecting the town, putting those results into context by placing the tallies side-by-side against district, state and national figures.

Polling results came in from New Caaan at 2 a.m. Wednesday and are unofficial, according to George Cody, registrar of voters. They'll be confirmed in the morning and are not expected substantially to change, Cody said. Note: Complete Norwalk and Wilton results also were late coming through and were unavailable as of 2:30 a.m.

Winners are in bold. Click on each race name for details. What you see here is a snapshot as of 2 a.m. Nov. 7. For state legislature races, New Canaan's unofficial results have been added to the larger district tally and factored into the percentage vote.

ALL VOTERS:
Connecticut does not require a photo ID and apparently people at polling places in New Canaan have been asking for people to show photo IDs. If someone asks you to show a photo ID and you don't have one, don't walk away. Tell them you don't have a photo ID and that they shouldn't be asking people to show one. Regardless of who you support, everyone should exercise their right to vote. People should NOT be asking for photo IDs. Connecticut does not require them.
Observer November 6, 2012 at 05:07 pm
This is bs. How does the registrar know who has voted if they don't confirm the identity of registered voters.
No one should be trying to vote illegitimately, and no one should be out attempting to raise questions about legimate steps to determine that votes are legitimate. I doubt there is any law that says we are prohibited from asking for ID. Just no law that says it is required. Those are two different things
Stephanie November 6, 2012 at 05:23 pm
In Connecticut, you do have to present an ID, which could be a bank statement with an address or a social security card. But Connecticut does not require a PHOTO ID. I went to vote last year and saw a sign that said "photo ID required" and since I left my license at home, I was ready to turn away until I said something. The point is that people who don't have photo IDs and are told they they need one may end up walking away therefore not voting. It's important that everyone votes.
Observer November 6, 2012 at 05:42 pm
Agreed. Everyone who is properly registered and legally allowed to, should vote. I don't know how one would know if a person were legitimately eligible without a photo ID, but if someone has original bank statements, a wallet with matching credit cards, or other apparently legitimate ID with address, I would let them vote too.

NEW BLACK PANTHER AT POLLING SITE IN PA
Ms. Stephanie, there is another side to voter suppression. You picked PA as an example, but here is what is happening when a paramilitary black radical shows up at a polling place. Please comment. According to Ballotpedia CT state laws says that, "First-time voters are required to present identification. Valid ID includes photo identification that features your name and address or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or other government document that shows your name and address."
In other words, you don't need ID at all if you're not a first time voter.

Unknown to most parents, children’s data is being shared beyond the school district with sixRead More agencies inside the Utah Data Alliance and UTREX, according to Utah Technology Director John Brandt. The student data is further being “mashed” with federal databases, according to federal Education Dept. Chief of Staff Joanne Weiss: http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/inside-school-research/2012/07/ed_urges_states_to_make_data_s.html While John Brandt assures us that only a handful of people in Utah have access to the personally identifiable data of children, recent alterations to federal FERPA (Famly Education Rights Privacy Act) regulations which were made by the U.S. Dept of Education, have radically redefined terms and widened the window of groups who can access private data without parental consent. For more on that, see the lawsuit against the U.S. Dept of Education on the subject: http://epic.org/apa/ferpa/default.html But first, an interjection: I want to introduce this article: http://seattleducation2010.wordpress.com/2013/01/02/your-students-privacy/ I like this article because it exposes the facts plainly, that parents are unaware that their children’s information is being shared without parental permission, beyond the school, beyond the district, and even beyond the state. It is verifiable and true. What it means: Courses taken, grades earned, every demographic piece of information, including family names and income, is being watched by the U.S. government via schools. Verify for yourself: The U.S. Dept. of Education’s own explanation is here, showing why SLDS systems exist: http://www2.ed.gov/programs/slds/factsheet.html
