BLUMENTHAL: West Hartford is the first community in Connecticut to receive approval from FEMA for reimbursement of clean-up costs in the wake of October's snowstorm, .

Blumenthal, Sen. Lieberman and First District Congressman John Larson, announced on Thursday that West Hartford will receive $5.5 million reimbursement from FEMA for debris removal.

"West Hartford well deserves this reimbursement for the hard hit from last year’s October snowstorm — a hard hit in financial costs as well as damage and debris," stated Blumenthal in a release announcing the reimbursement. "I’m pleased that this money helps make West Hartford whole for the hard work and sacrifice in the wake the storm."

LIEBERMAN: Following a classified briefing last week, the senator said that news media reports about the recently foiled al Qaeda airline plot compromised the mole that infiltrated the group on behalf of the U.S, according to CNN. He said the individual could "no longer be valued to us" and expects that al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) will be more cautious about who they trust in the future.

HIMES: The congressman will accept the endorsement of the Democratic Party for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday at a convention held at Cesar A. Batalla School in Bridgeport. Delegates from each of the 17 towns in the district are expected to attend.

DELAURO: The congresswoman and Rep. Bruce Braley (D-IA), co-chairs of the Populist Caucus, introduced on Thursday the Rebuild America Act, which rebuild the American middle-class by fostering job growth, creating financial stability for middle-class families and "restoring fairness" to the tax code.

“The debate in Washington has gone on for too long. We need to stop talking and start implementing solutions to get America back to work,” DeLauro said. “The Rebuild America Act makes bold, critical investments in our future to create jobs and promote the financial stability so crucial to middle-class Americans. These families have been facing pressures on all fronts, from struggling schools to declining manufacturing to the squeeze on pensions and retirement security. This bill will help both individuals and businesses start to pull themselves out of the morass we have been in and prepare our economy for future challenges.”

MURPHY: Congressman Chris Murphy joined sportscaster and former UConn and WNBA basketball player Rebecca Lobo at Friday morning for the Let's Move! event to encourage healthy lifestyles and physical fitness for Connecticut kids.
