No-Interest Home Repair Loan Orientation Wednesday

Homeowners and contractors can learn about no-interest loans for needed repairs offered through the town.

The Town of Brookfield has been awarded funding to provide a Small Cities housing rehabilitation program for Brookfield property owners. Homeowners and local contractors are invited to attend an orientation for the program at Town Hall on Wednesday, November 14.

Homeowners interested in receiving no-interest grants for home repairs will have an orientation session from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and contractors have a session from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The object of the housing rehabilitation program is to assist low and moderate income homeowners in making needed health and safety repairs to their homes through zero percent interest deferred loans. Priorities in the housing rehabilitation process include ensuring the health and safety of the home’s occupants, assistance in the prevention of neighborhood blight and making repairs that increase the life of structures.

Eligible property owners must be low and moderate income (80 percent or less of area median income), must have a home loan-to-value ratio of 85 percent and must be current on taxes.

Contractor applications are available from Lisa Low & Associates, 203-888-5624.  Homeowner applications will be served on a first come, first served basis. Homeowner applications will be available at the orientation and also on the town website as of November 8. Completed applications will be accepted starting 10 a.m. December 4 and should be submitted to Katherine Daniel in the Land Use Office where they will be date and time stamped for first come, first served processing.

Please let others know who may be interested in being served by the program.
