POLL: Which of These Gubernatorial Ads Convinces You?

Governor Malloy has now joined the Republicans hoping to run against him for governor and released a TV campaign ad. 

The  Republican primary candidates for Connecticut’s gubernatorial election made campaign ads with very different messages, Patch reported a couple of weeks ago.

McKinney released an attack ad against incumbent Democratic Senator Dannel Malloy back in May.

By contrast, Foley’s first television ad released this month focuses on his family and his role as a father.

The TV ad Malloy released Monday is titled “Tough Times” and describes the hardships Connecticut has suffered while Malloy has been governor: budget crises, storms, the Sandy Hook tragedy. It presents Malloy as a leader who has proven himself to be reliable and strong.

Tom Foley was endorsed as the Republican gubernatorial candidate at the party’s convention in May, but John McKinney got enough votes to challenge him for that nomination, the New Haven Register reports.

Foley’s ad his wife Leslie says her husband is “incredibly smart, he can fix anything. Tom’s an optimist who gets things done.”

McKinney takes a more combative approach, saying“Dan Malloy is what’s wrong with Connecticut” into the camera in his ad.
