Prices Double for New Parking Kiosks

The new kiosks are set to arrive in the Fall.

 

The  approved at their last meeting a price hike for the new parking kiosks set for the Morse Court, Center and Locust lots.

The kiosks, which were approved in the town's capital budget, will be programmed to charge $0.50 per hour for Locust and Center lots (up from $0.25) and $1.00 per hour forMorse lot (up from $0.50).

According to , this is only the thirs time in over 20 years that the town has increased parking rates - once in 1991 and again in 2005. 

"It has been a while since the numbers were looked at," said Mallozzi, "and I think everyone agreed to put more value on the precious commodity that is parking in town. The new machines are being programmed ahead of time, which costs less than changing them once they get here."

Mallozzi also stated that the proposed measures were "well enunciated in the budget hearing."

According to the , the project is still out for bid with a deadline of June 7 for bidders. The town is still looking for vendors and, while there is no specific time frame, the project is projected to be under way by Fall.
