Questions: Arbitration Award, Trains and Prom Dates

The Town Council voted to not issue $650,000 in bonds to cover the cost of an the town in a dispute with Loureiro Contractors, Inc. about the Lakeview Ave. bridge. The arbitration decision was handed down on Feb. 25, but the Town Council hadn't been told about it until the bond request appeared on the May 18 agenda. Confusion arose about who knew what and when they knew it.  The award was for nearly $600,000, plus another $100,000 in arbitration fees. And there are nearly $1 million in additional, related costs, including $800,000 in legal fees. The Town Council will Monday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the matter. 

It won't come as a surprise to most commuters that the Metro-North line is in . That was the assessment of Howard R.
