BLUMENTHAL: The senator recently spoke with HuffPo about a series of bills he's proposing along with Rep. James Lankford (R-Okla.) that would require contractors to create plans to prevent human trafficking and requires companies to monitor and report their subcontractors' activities.

"Modern-day slavery by government contractors — unknowingly funded by American taxpayers — is unconscionable and intolerable," he said.

LIEBERMAN: The senator used Twitter on Tuesday to talk about the Yemen-based terrorist bomb plot that was thwarted by U.S. intelligence this week:

"The most important fact is that a terrorist plan to kill innocent people was stopped before anyone was in danger."

HIMES: The congressman released a statement on Tuesday about the at the age 83:

“I send my condolences to the family and friends of Maurice Sendak, a man who inspired children to believe in the extraordinary and expand their minds and imaginations," he said. "Mr. Sendak’s books, with their fantastical stories and beautiful illustrations, captured the hearts of millions of youngsters, encouraging them to read and learn. Though he may no longer be with us, I hope the rumpus never ends.”

MURPHY: When the New Haven Register asked the congressman on Monday how he felt about the prospects of getting the Democratic nomination to run for Senate, he said he was "confident."

“But at the same time, I’m not looking to count the chickens before they’re hatched," he added.
