Why would anyone have a debit card? Why would it be better than a credit card? No criticism is intended here, just a question for you and anybody else who has something to add.

I had never used it before my visit to the nail salon, thats how I knew who stole the #. I had left my credit card at home and didnt have any other form of payment on me. The only reason I have the debit card is because thats what the bank issued in replacement of my old ATM card.

You can tell the bank you want to inactivate the debit feature. They may issue an ATM only card or set it up with a zero balance. There may still be security weaknesses here, though. These cards are troublesome. You might want to investigate with your bank.

I haven't had any issues since then - the incident happened about 5 years ago - and my bank didn't hold me responsible for the charges
