Authors on Stage: Douglas Rogers, 'The Last Resort: A Memoir of Zimbabwe'

Douglas Rogers, born and raised in Zimbabwe and now living in Brooklyn, reads from his book, "The Last Resort: A Memoir of Zimbabwe", at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11 in the Lamb Room at the New Canaan Library.

"The Last Resort" takes readers back to 2004 when Rogers wakes up in his fashionable Brooklyn neighborhood to discover that his life has become a routine of latté orders, real estate conversations, and late nights at Nobu. Meanwhile, back in Africa, his parents, among the last white farmers left in Zimbabwe, are caught in the crossfire of a violent land war.

Rogers sees both the absurdity of Mugabe’s endgame and the heartbreaking consequences for his countrymen.
