LeDuc Chosen as Acting Principal of New Canaan High School

She came to New Canaan from Brookfield where she taught chemistry, physics and science at Brookfield High School.

An announcement Friday afternoon from New Canaan Public Schools:

Dr. Veronica LeDuc has been chosen to serve as acting principal of New Canaan High School for the 2014-2015 school year when current NCHS Principal Dr. Bryan Luizzi will begin his term as New Canaan Public Schools interim superintendent.

Dr. LeDuc will begin her new role at NCHS on July 1, 2014.

A search committee comprised of NCPS and NCHS administrators, NCHS staff, Board of Education members and NCHS parent representatives chose Dr. LeDuc for the position.

According to Gary Kass, NCPS director of human resources, “The search committee was very impressed by Dr. LeDuc’s extensive experience and expertise, her professionalism and her commitment to students and staff.  Additionally, Veronica has served enthusiastically as a co-chairman of the district’s Crisis Advisory Board.”

As an educator Dr. LeDuc has acquired all of her extensive professional experience in Connecticut. She came to New Canaan from Brookfield where she taught chemistry, physics and science at Brookfield High School.

Prior to Brookfield she served as principal and assistant principal at Torrington High School and as an Assistant Principal at Thomaston High School. She earned classroom experience as a teacher at Thomaston High School and Notre Dame Academy in Waterbury.

Dr. LeDuc earned her doctor of education in organizational leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her educational background includes a sixth year certificate in administration and supervision from Southern Connecticut University, a masters of science from Central Connecticut State University, and a bachelor of arts from Regis College in Weston, MA.
