Scores for fourth- and eighth graders in Connecticut on the National Assessment of Educational Progress exam remained somewhat stagnant this year compared to 2009, according to the The Register Citizen.

Among students in Connecticut, 45 percent of fourth graders scored “at or above proficient” in math and 42 percent in reading, while 38 percent of eighth-graders scored “at or above proficient” in math and and 45 percent in reading. The only improvement seen in scoring since 2009 was in eighth-grade reading.

The scores, which were released this week, also revealed that between white and minority students, as well as between rich and poor students, remains wide, according to an analysis by the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now.
