New Canaan Football Suspends 10 Players for Violating Team Rules

Six starters won't play tonight against Brien McMahon.

Ten New Canaan High School football players, including quarterback Teddy Bossidy, won't join the Rams when they play host to Brien McMahon tonight.

According to Dave Ruden, they've been suspended for violating team rules.

“It’s an unfortunate situation,” New Canaan Head Coach Lou Marinelli said, according to Ruden. "We haven’t had this kind of problem. I feel personally responsible for what has happened.”

It was unclear what rules the 10 players violated.

The suspension brings to mind the 2010 vandalism of New Canaan High School by five Darien Blue Wave football players, who were subsequently arrested and suspended from playing in the annual Turkey Bowl.
