This week's Whiz Kids are the award nominees from the NCHS Theater program.

Achievement:
Since The Spirit of Broadway Theater began sponsoring The Connecticut High School Musical Awards three years ago, New Canaan High School's Theater has been well represented.
This year's seventeen nominations are a new accomplishment for the program.
The awards will be presented at a black tie gala, at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, on the evening of June 6th.
Winners in the Leading Male and Female categories will travel to New York for what is described by the National High School Musical Awards website as, "a week of rehearsals, master classes and private coaching sessions (at NYU's Tisch School)." They will compete for that organization's Jimmy Awards when, "the week’s events culminate in a live awards show on Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway."
Key to their Achievement:
Matt Maguire, nominee in the Leading Male category for his performance as, "The Man in the Chair," explained to Patch that he has been involved with theater at the high school since his freshman year.
Maguire feels his theater experience at NCHS has prepared him well for his future pursuits. He plans to major in Communications at Boston University this fall.
Of the production of "The Drowsy Chaperone, " in his culminating year, he said, "When we did the show [this March], we gave it our all and we were left with results that we were pretty pleased with."
