Westonite of the Week: Mary Nosenzo

Patch salutes "Kids on the Loose" creator Mary Nosenzo for her unique, fun, and creative approach to fund raising.

Who puts the "fun" in fund raising? Mary Nosenzo, that's who.

Nosenzo, known throughout Weston as the Associate Director of , recently created, developed, and ran the "Kids on the Loose" project. Did you see an adorable, dressy goat somewhere around town? Then you saw the results of her effort.

Kid goat kits were sold to benefit the center and also the , which hosted a family fun day this past Saturday. Local luminaries served on a panel of judges (although, who are we kid-ding, they were all adorable).

"It was a great day," Nosenzo said. "Everyone who attended had a great time."

A total of four winners were selected out of 54 entries, with "very few repeats," Nosenzo added, laughing, "which was impressive, considering how much kids like candy."

Nosenzo, who double-majored in college as a fine arts and early childhood education major, said that she'd like to make it an annual event.

"It's so fitting for our organization, and we had a lot of comments from people [at the event] saying that they had last-minute ideas. We can switch animals every year," she said.

The donations will be split between the historical society's archive fund and the Center, which plans to use the funds for scholarships and program improvement.

"It was so fun, and it got the community involved," Nosenzo said.
