By Feb. 1 (tomorrow), college applications are due at nearly every school, and in many cases were due by the first of this month.
New Canaan High School enjoys a relatively high graduation rate—98.4 percent in the last year (2008) reported on the Connecticut Department of Education website, compared to a statewide average of 92.1 percent. More than nine out of 10 NCHS graduates went on to a four-year college in 2010, the last reported year in that category.
Notifications are expected to arrive in about two or three months. Experts on college admissions typically stress than SAT scores are one piece of the whole application to get into a school.
