The month of February not only boasts the title of National Prevent a Litter Month, but Spay Day USA is also held on February 26th to aid in the prevention of unnecessary litters.
While one may question why anyone would ever want to prevent an animal from birthing cute crittters, not all of those newborn babies have a safe home to be raised in. In an effort to stop the overcrowding of animal shelters, and even the horrific idea of euthanizing animals that do not have a home, it is necessary for animals to be spayed or neutered unless being used for breeding purposes. You can help!
Look into an affordable, reputable place to have your pet spayed or neutered, if you have not already done so. Then make an appointment! You are only looking out for your own animal, but also the potential babies that it could produce that may never find a home.
Simply search for organizations in your area that are trying to make a difference for Spay Day 2013. You may be able to directly help the organization in events, awareness, or even finding a place to have your own pet spayed or neutered.
Spay Day, with the help of you and fellow animal activism organizations can help a number of animals, and owners who may not be able to afford the procedure, in keeping the homeless and unwanted population of animals down in the future.
Do your part! Have your animal spayed or neutered during this month of awareness, or spread the word and help in saving the lives of those who are less fortunate to ever be a pet in a home like yours. For more information, visit this link and see how you can make a difference today!
