International Guide Dog Day

Village Critter Outfitter is happy to announce that it is International Guide Dog Day!

It’s International Guide Dog Day! A very well deserved holiday celebration, as guide dogs work hard each and every day to ensure their owner is completely taken care of. While the blind, or visually impaired, struggle to find normalcy in everyday life without sight, these dogs bring new meaning to the idea of never losing complete mobility despite even in the worst circumstances.

With the help of these guide dogs, those who have no sight, can see again; what is more rewarding than that? Not to mention, guide dogs also serve those who have other disabilities; Canine Companions gives those with disabilities an impeccably trained, loyal pup for not cost at all. Not only do these companions find themselves to be the host of a great deal of responsibility, but the love that they have for their owners tends to be unsurpassable. This just goes to show one of the most divine examples of the loyalty between a pet and his owner. Click here to learn more about Canine Companions!

Watch this video about the life of a guide dog!

These dogs are brought up from a young age to not only guide, but to lead. They become leaders of the individual in which they ultimately care for, and are granted access to all public areas in order to help their owner to continue on with daily tasks. While some public locations boast signs that state the exclusion of dogs, to deny a guide dog from such public places is actually considered a crime.

Let’s take a moment to commend these dogs, but also to praise your own – guide dog or not, as we know all pups are equally loyal, with or without a title. Take a moment to watch the video above to see the progression on the life of a guide dog in honor of this great day!
