Help Support New Canaan this Holiday Season

The holidays are upon us and no one understands the importance of shopping small than the village-oriented Town of New Canaan, with its abundance of locally-owned shops and businesses.

First Selectman Robert Mallozzi III makes the case for shopping locally this holiday season and announces the new gift certificate that will be made available by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce which will be usable at any of the Chamber-connected businesses around town.

It's the perfect time to pick yours up, with the 9th Annual Holiday Stroll approaching, set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7. New Canaan this year has a number of new shops and options to choose from, including new names like New Canaan Music, New Canaan Olive Oil, GoldenBerry or Betty's Teas.

"New Canaan transforms into something out of a Dickens’ story book. Friday night kicks off with the arrival of Santa Claus, a lighting of the trees, carol singing, live entertainment while the stores stay open late and offer refreshments and holiday cheer," reads the Chamber of Commerce website detailing the event.

And while you're helping to keep New Canaan in business with its diverse offerings, be sure to give back to the town directly and help keep the holiday lights flickering. It will cost the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce more than $21,000 to light up the town this year, and the Chamber pays for those expenses out of pocket. Read the details on donating to the Village Lighting Fund here. Checks made out to the Village Lighting Fund can be mailed directly to the Chamber at 91 Elm Street, New Canaan 06840.
