Fans Welcome Champion Huskies Home

Braving cold rain the fans welcomed the NCAA champion team home to Connecticut. By Larry Smith | Email the author | 5:33pm

About 100 people from across the state braved the cold and rain to welcome back the 2011 NCAA Champion University of Connecticut Men's Basketball team to  Tuesday.

As the plane came out of the sky, the crowd cheered. A few minutes later, the plane was greeted by ceremonial water cannons from the Bradley fire department.

Coach Jim Calhoun said the team had just left 80-degree temperatures, but he's glad they're home. Calhoun told the crowd he promised when he started his job at UConn he would do something special.
