Farina Pitches New Canaan Baseball Into Class L Semifinals

The senior righthander tossed a three-hitter Saturday as the 13th-seeded Rams blanked No. 21 RHAM, 4-0

New Canaan baseball coach Mitch Hoffman has contended that Alex Farina, who boasts an ERA well under one, was the best pitcher in the FCIAC this season.

The senior righthander may have proven it Saturday, tossing a three-hitter as the Rams continued their playoff run with a 4-0 victory over No. 21 seed RHAM in the quarterfinals of the CIAC Class L state tournament at the University of New Haven.

Farina was in control throughout, walking none and striking out eight for New Canaan (16-8), which is one win away from its first appearance in  a state championship game in nearly 40 years.
