Football vs. Masuk CIAC Class L Football State Championship Game

The Rams quest for five consecutive state was ended by Masuk Saturday as they were defeated 50-20 at UCONN's Rentschler Field.

Masuk put up 16 straight points before the Rams were able to get on the board at 8:20 of the second quarter when Matt Milano hooked up with Kevin Macari for a 35 yard touchdown pass. The two teams traded scores before Milano found Patrick Newton for a 14 yard touchdown pass that made it 23-20 Masuk going into halftime.

It was all Masuk for the rest of the game as the Rams weren't able to get anything going. A series of bad punts by NC punter Joe Costigan gave Masuk great field position and the Panthers capitalized. They scored three straight touchdowns in the third and added another score in the fourth quarter.

It was the Rams worst loss in a state championship game since 2000 when they lost to Bloomfield 55-6 in the Class M Championship.
