New Canaan Running Club Fall Registration Starts September

Membership entitles each child to highly qualified coaches, USATF insurance coverage and discount on New Balance New Canaan athletic shoes.

The New Canaan Running Club is a nascent program for youth boys and girls ages 9 to 14 in and around New Canaan. This community running club and competitive team is founded on two main goals: instill in youth a love for running and develop youth for future competitive running.

The New Canaan Running Club completed a successful inaugural Spring 2012 session with more than 40 athletes participating in the club and competing in several track meets and one road race. Both coaches and parents witnessed hard work and commitment to running, and with that came tremendous growth and improvement as well as increased appreciation and enjoyment.

We would like to thank New Balance New Canaan for their sponsorship and support, the coaching staff, and the various town bodies that permitted us to use the high school track and Waveny Park for practices. Our debut season was a success, and we look forward to an even better Fall 2012 season.

The Fall 2012 season begins its 8-week session on September 10 and ends on October 31th.  Practices are three times per week: Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 to10:00 am only when there is no meet.  Children ages 9-14 are eligible to participate, and the cost will be $125 per athlete.

We will soon have registration capability on our website.  Until then, please register through either: New Balance in New Canaan (128 Elm Street), or email Melissa Cutler at infoncrunningclub@gmail.com.

Membership in the New Canaan Running Club entitles each child to highly qualified coaches and individualized goal setting and training, paid registration fees for meets and races attended by the club, USATF insurance coverage for practices and meets, New Balance New Canaan singlet uniform top and discount on New Balance New Canaan athletic shoes.

Please feel free to contact us at infoncrunningclub@gmail.com with any questions.  We look forward to having your children join the New Canaan Running Club this fall!

Where DIDN'T you learn to write?? Jane Himmel May 22, 2013 at 01:27 pm "This has CONVINCED MYRead More GROWING CONVICTION that Patch has moved complete..."

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

Tom, the tree warden doesn't just "put in trees and take them down" just like that. ThereRead More is a reason behind every tree that has come down or gone up. Whats with this town and trees anyway? It seems like a huge source of controversy...they are TREES.

if they had done it at night at least it wouldn't have been smudged. BUT, i happen to think itsRead More nice, and especially with the flags hanging. we forget we are a small new england town, and small things like the red white and blue stripes remind me that we still are! :)
