Radecki named an All American at Junior Olympic Nationals
Noah Radecki, 7, a second grader at , finished 18th this past Saturday at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic national cross country championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Radecki, running in the sub-bantam division for boys born in 2003 and after, clocked a time of 8:09.07 on the rolling 2,000-meter course (1.24 miles) over the fairways and woods of Whispering Pines Golf Course.
The Junior Olympic national championship sub-bantam race featured 128 of the fastest 7- and 8-year olds from across the country, all of whom had to qualify at various state and regional meets over the last three weeks. The Junior Olympic nationals bring together the best 2,000 youth cross country runners in the nation raging from age 7 through 17.

Radecki recently finished fourth in the Connecticut state meet and 11th at the New York/New England Regional to qualify for the national race. With his medalist finish in the top 25, Radecki was named an All American.

The girls basketball team lost its first game of the season on Friday, falling 57-52 at the Zeoli Field to Wilton, which rallied from a nine-point deficit in the third quarter.
Sarah Mannelly had 16 points and Courtney Rogers added to pace New Canaan, which reached the FCIAC semifinals last season. The Rams dropped to 1-1.
Wilton, meanwhile, is serving early notice that it may be a force with which to be reckoned in the FCIAC this season.
Casey Pearsall scored 15 of her 23 points in the second half as the Warriors improved to 2-0. Maddie Fulton and Erin Cunningham each added 10 points for Wilton.
With Wilton trailing 51-50, Pearsall hit two free throws with 36 seconds remaining to put the Warriors ahead for good.
New Canaan is back in action at home on Wednesday against St. Joseph.
