The Darien High School Blue Wave football team took home the 2012 Turkey Bowl Trophy after securing its first win since 2001 over the New Canaan Rams 36-23 in the 84th annual Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day.

The Rams, who now hold a record of 13-5-1 over The Wave in the Turkey Bowl, and an overall record of 48-34-2, was on a seven game winning streak coming into Thursday's game. As per a live Twitter feed on the Stamford Advocate's website, the team secured a 14-0 lead in the first quarter — but The Wave jumped ahead in the second quarter to secure a 22-14 lead at the half.

The Rams would go on to have a scoreless third quarter, with the The Wave scoring 14 more unanswered points to gain a 36-14 lead.

The Rams scored another touchdown in the fourth quarter, to bring the deficit to 15. But a costly turnover late in the game gave possession back to Darien, and, despite a Rams safety in the final seconds, The Wave went on to win by a final score of 36-23.

Coming into the game, dueling New Canaan quarterbacks Nick Cascione and Ted Bossidy reportedly had a combined 1,548 yards and 20 touchdowns, while Darien quarterback Henry Baldwin had thrown 1,830 yards including 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions — the most yards in the FCIAC for the season.

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.
