5. Casey Gaynor Making his first start since missing last season with an arm injury, Gaynor was spectacular in a 3-0 win over Norwalk. Gaynor struck out nine hitters and allowed just two batters to reach base. (walk, hit batter) Gaynor did not allow a hit before being lifted after six innings and 74 pitches.

4. Mike Davis (Newtown) Only a sophomore, Davis took on Bethel on Friday the 13th in April. Luck was on his side as he shut down everybody in the 9-0 victory. Davis struck out nine hitters and walked four batters in the dominate performance.

3. Andrew Reel (Pomperaug) Followed up the no-no by teammate David Cherry with a spectacular performance of his own. Facing Weston, Reel struck out 10 hitters and did not walk a batter. He gave up an unearned run in the seventh inning as the defense committed one of its four errors on the day in the 11-1 victory.

2. David Cherry (Pomeraug) A year ago, Cherry was pitching on the junior varsity, but he stepped things up for his senior year. Facing Immaculate in April, Cherry tossed a game that he'll always remember. He was dominate early on, striking out eight of the first 10 batters he faced. Cherry struck out 15 in the 8-0 victory and, unofficially, the no-hitter was the first in Pomperaug school history.

1. Gerard Spiegel (Trumbull) Taking on Darien on the late coaching legend, Jerry McDougall's, birthday, Spiegel spun a gem against the Blue Wave. He walked the second batter of the game, but that runner was erased on a strike 'em out, throw 'em out double-play. Spiegel went on to retire the next 19 batters and face the minimum of 21 batters in the game. He had 12 K's and walked just one batter in Trumbull's 8-0 victory.
