Whiz Kid’s Name and Age: Megan Boepple, 16
Whiz Kid’s School: Wilton High School
Whiz Kid’s Accomplishments: Helped lead the Warriors to the FCIAC girls lacrosse championship last season with a 12-8 victory over rival New Canaan. She scored a career-high six goals in last Saturday's 17-7 home victory over Staples that improved the Warriors to 12-0. Wilton added another win with Tuesday's 17-10 victory over Greenwich.
Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Boepple credits her successes to hard work.
“She really works really hard,” Jackson said.
Boepple has also grown as a player in the sport of lacrosse through her extra practice time which has also translated in the Warriors’ tremendous record this season compared to 2010’s results.
“We play really hard as a team,” said the three sport athlete, who also plays Warrior girl’s soccer and girl’s basketball. “We click as a team.”
“She definitely puts a lot of time into it (practicing on and off the field),” Jackson said. “She’s become more confident in herself on the field.”
Team gatherings off the field have also helped the Warriors grow closer and stronger together, in addition to the two-hours of actual practice.
“They just really want to win games,” Jackson said.
Last year’s 13-6-1 team only fell to New Canaan, Greenwich, Darien (splitting the series), Greenwich Academy, and Lakeland Panas throughout the regular season before edging Darien 17-16 (May 24) and beating New Canaan 12-8 (May 28) for the FCIAC girl’s lacrosse championship – the Warriors then suffered a 7-6 loss to Glastonbury in the state playoffs (June 3).
