Ridgefield Holiday Stroll 2012

Holiday Stroll 2012 was one of the grandest events that downtown Ridgefield has for all to experience. Festive lights, great food, Horse drawn wagon rides, movies to watch and, chocolate to eat.

This past Friday evening my friends and I had the wonderful experience of the traveling along Main St for the Holiday Stroll. I believe this is my 9th year in joining the festivities at this great event! Thank you to all the merchants who put on a glorious evening of colorful windows, fancy hor deuvres, yummy cookies, cocoa and, some had a full course dinner!

We always start at Town Hall promptly at 6. There was Santa's big chair as an ice scuplture and this year the great movie "Its a Wonderful Life" was playing. Ridgefield truly is a wonderful place to live in. Next its on to the Realtors and the one and only Criag's Jewelry Store. Criaig's becomes crowded right at the very start of the stroll...it must be the fabulous jewelry. My good friend Mary tried on a black pearl bracelet that was absolutley gorgeous.

Next we meandered toward Rodier Flowers where the lovely Mrs. Jones was watering her ice planter. She offered me a nice cup of coffee. Thank you...it was just what I needed.

On to the chocolate factory Deborah Ann's where they were serving beautiful peices of chocolate. I felt like a kid at Santa's workshop.

The best part of the stroll is seeing neighbors and friends, catching up on each other lives and, sending good holiday wishes as we depart.

As we were strolling there was the never ending sound of clip clop clip clop. My husband loves horses so he was determined to "grab" some carrots and give them a snack, come to find out the horses couldn't eat till after they finished working. He was disappointed he couldn't feed them but....maybe next year Tom.

Santa was in front of the book store giving out goodies to children, more beautiful ice sculputres to oooh and awe over and, even sugar plum fairies graced the windows of the Dance Studio.

One of the most charming shops is where many grand clocks reside.... beautifully named the Horologist of London.  The owner is the most delightful gentleman along with his lovey wife who told us all kinds of stories of the various clocks in his shop. He maintains them and, sells the clocks not just locally but around the world. Its like going back in time when I walk through his door, the clocks date back to 1650 and 1850!

So be sure to put the Holiday stroll on your calender for next year, its an event not to be missed...it supports our downtown shops and what a great way to see friends and neighbors!
