Family Dinner at Gates: A Princess and $5 kids meals!

What's for dinner Tuesday night? How about your family, a $5 kids menu and a Princess to boot! Bring your family to Gates for the "Family Dinner at Gates" Tuesday 2/26.

Gates Restaurant in New Canaan, CT is offering the final of three special Family Dinner nights with a modified menu and $5 kids meals.

To make things a little more special for little princes and princesses, "Princess Belle" from the upcoming NCHS play "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" will make an appearance to give hugs, take photos and sign autographs.

In partnership with New Canaan Youth Services, the New Canaan YMCA and the Outback Teen Center; Gates is offering a Family Night, geared toward getting families to sit down together.  Family Dinner at Gates will provide families with an opportunity to sit down and enjoy dinner together on Tuesday night February 26. Family dinner will be served on these evenings during their dinner service and will feature a roasted chicken dinner plate for adults for $14 each and any children’s meal for $5.

According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA), compared to teens who have frequent family dinners (five to seven per week), those who have infrequent family dinners (fewer than three per week) are:

• Almost four times likelier to use tobacco;

• More than twice as likely to use alcohol;

• Two-and-a-half times likelier to use marijuana; and

• Almost four times likelier to say they expect to try drugs in the future.

• Twice as likely to report receiving mostly Cs and lower grades in school.

Future FREE Family Dinner events are scheduled at the Outback Teen Center, March 14 and at the YMCA of New Canaan March 22.  Contact the Outback or YMCA for more information.

Gates restaurant is located at 10 Forest Street in New Canaan.  For additional information about the importance of family dinners and keeping your family substance free, visit www.casafamilyday.org.

Where DIDN'T you learn to write?? Jane Himmel May 22, 2013 at 01:27 pm "This has CONVINCED MYRead More GROWING CONVICTION that Patch has moved complete..."

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.
