It’s Time…To Take a Stand against Sexual Assault and Harassment
New Canaan High School students were spotted showing enthusiasm by signing a pledge at lunch on April 18 and 19th to support efforts to raise awareness to stop Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment.
500 signatures!! That certainly is a statement in favor of healthy relationships and the campaign to support April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. New Canaan High School students were spotted showing enthusiasm by signing a pledge at lunch on April 18 and 19th to support efforts to raise awareness to stop Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment.
The pledge consisted of:
● To understand that Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment exists in our community
Find out what's happening in New Canaanwith free, real-time updates from Patch.
● To agree to talk to friends and family about the issue
● To not stand by or participate in activities that promote power, control or force over others

● And lastly, If a friend discloses to me I will not judge and will inform a trusted adult
The kids were also excited to take away bracelets and pens with contact information about where to turn for resources or help... along with tasty cupcakes and candy. Student athletes will also have the opportunity during April to use teal (the color for this cause) colored athletic tape in support of the effort.
This initiative was an effort of New Canaan Youth Services Department partnering with The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education to man tables during April to support Sexual Assault Awareness month.
Good job NCHS teens. Keep up the awareness efforts and take the pledge to make a difference.
