Despite a “white” Halloween and a power buster for many residents the ’s annual Halloween Parade was a hit for many trick- or- treaters. The parade tradition is to gather at the Park Street parking lot and then all ghosts and goblins head down Elm Street. Not this year. Rather than disappoint the kids the parade moved to Town Hall where more than 1,000 goodie bags as well as pounds of donated candy were distributed to children of all ages as they moved through each department of Town Hall for treats. It turned out to be a great alternative to the outdoor parade and even allowed many kids a chance to get a glimpse of Town Hall for the first time.
The Chamber owes thanks to so many that helped from our terrific sponsors to the mothers and daughter of the National Charity League – Canaan Parish Chapter for stuffing and distributing the goodie bags. The employees of Town Hall couldn’t have been more patient and welcoming as hundreds and hundreds of dressed up kids visited their departments. Even CERT was on hand to help with traffic and parking issues and several others came out to lend a hand. Many thanks to Jenny Esposito of and Barbara Davis of IBlast and for helping co-chair the event!
One thing is for sure here in New Canaan and that is that when it comes to Halloween, the show must go on and it did!
