Talk Like a Pirate, Fall Physician's Speakers Bureau, Film for Thought

It looks like the weather for the week in New Canaan kicks off in the high 60s and holds pretty steady until Thursday and Friday, when it's expected to reach the mid-to-high 70s before dropping back down to 70 for both Saturday and Sunday. Rain currently doesn't look likely.

On Monday, the Silvermine Arts Center at 1037 Silvermine Road is hosting a Film for Thought film screening and luncheon starting at 11 a.m. They'll be presenting William Kentridge's film "Anything is Possible," a one-hour PBS special.

Those interested in joining the Service League of Boys (SLOB) should meet at New Canaan High School's cafeteria at 7 p.m. on Monday. As an organization committed to philanthropic work, SLOBs members and their parents have served over 20,000 hours since the club's inception in 2004.

The Young Women's League of New Canaan is also hosting a new members meeting, this one on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at 131 Woodridge Circle. Check here for RSVP information.

The New Canaan YMCA and Stamford Hospital will be presenting "How to Live to be 100" on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the New Canaan YMCA at 564 South Avenue. This free event is part of their Fall Physician's Speakers Bureau and will feature insight from a Stamford Hospital Cardiologist. Advanced registration is required as seating is limited. On Thursday at 1:15, the two organizations pair up again for "Take Control: Help for Women with Bladder & Pelvic Problems" with a Stamford Urogynecologist. Same restrictions apply

Thursday is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and neighboring Pump It Up Norwalk is ready to celebrate with a fun-filled day for kids.
