Need Fun this Weekend? How About Inspiration, Apples, Corn, Pumpkins or Zumba?

Hey New Canaan, this dreary week carries into the weekend, with rain on Friday keeping temps low at 63. It jumps to 67 on Saturday, but it's still cloudy. On Sunday, it drops to 65 but the sun should peek through as it's only supposed to be partly cloudy. There's only a 20-percent chance of rain Saturday and Sunday, according to Weather.com.

Journalist Paul Tough, who authored How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity and the Hidden Power of Character, will speak at King Low Heywood Thomas during a free presentation Friday starting at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Get free (!) apples and corn this Saturday at Weed & Duryea starting at 8 a.m. during the second annual giveaway, co-sponsored by Greggs Garden Center. New Canaan Boy Scout Troop 31 has you covered for all your pumpkin needs starting at 9 a.m. at the United Methodist Church.

On Sunday, St. Aloysius School is hosting a Zumbathon to benefit Al's Angels, which provides Holiday meals and gifts to families who have children battling cancer, rare blood diseases or financial hardship. Register at 24hoursofhope.com.
