SENIORS:  Think the Flu vaccine is the only thing you need this winter? Think again.

Shingles vaccine recommended for those 60< by the CDC and can be covered in part by insurance. Side effects = soreness, swelling or itching at the site of the injection. Allergic reactions with high fever and headache usually occur within a few minutes to an hour after the shot, with difficulty breathing, wheezing, hives, or swelling of the throat.
Who should NOT get the Shingles vaccine?

             Persons with allergy to gelatin or neomycin (an antibiotic)
             Pregnant or trying to get pregnant (not probable in this age group)
             Persons with cancers like leukemia or lymphoma
             Persons being treated with chemotherapy or radiation
             Persons with immune system problems
             Persons with infections and fever
